Hi there
Just wanted to say hi, im an electrical engineer by trade and did a bit of electronics when i was young...22 years ago. I've been interested in Audio for many years, i thought id have a go at making a fleabay diy kit (naim or quad clone). I mentioned this to my brother who is a total audio buff, (Monoblock Tanny SR840 amps and Tannoy definition speakers). Who pulled me out of the loft an unfinished Velleman K4020 power amp kit, which over the last 2 weeks i have re-soldered all the boards, built the case and now have a pretty cool sounding DIY amp. (i will start a thread in the solid state section). I am going to start the total DIY amp next which im sure il be asking on here for help lol. Great forum by the way Best regards and thanks James |

Hi James - and Welcome to diyAudio!!!
![]() ![]() ![]() I love the smell of solder in the morning!!! Congrats on you build and a word of warning - this stuff is great fun and very addictive. I offer therapy advice to all newbies which usually amounts to just hand over all of your money to me and will suffer less and it will quicker!!!! ![]() ![]()

Hi James,
I'm in sort of the same boat as you. I'll be starting an amp build hopefully soon; and probably will be needing a little guidance as I go as well. TomZ |
