Hi there

Just wanted to say hi, im an electrical engineer by trade and did a bit of electronics when i was young...22 years ago.

I've been interested in Audio for many years, i thought id have a go at making a fleabay diy kit (naim or quad clone). I mentioned this to my brother who is a total audio buff, (Monoblock Tanny SR840 amps and Tannoy definition speakers). Who pulled me out of the loft an unfinished Velleman K4020 power amp kit, which over the last 2 weeks i have re-soldered all the boards, built the case and now have a pretty cool sounding DIY amp. (i will start a thread in the solid state section).

I am going to start the total DIY amp next which im sure il be asking on here for help lol.

Hi James - and Welcome to diyAudio!!!

I love the smell of solder in the morning!!! Congrats on you build and a word of warning - this stuff is great fun and very addictive. I offer therapy advice to all newbies which usually amounts to just hand over all of your money to me and will suffer less and it will quicker!!!!

I'm in sort of the same boat as you. I'll be starting an amp build hopefully soon; and probably will be needing a little guidance as I go as well.
