Default Hello *wave*

Just thought I'd say hello and also ask for a little advise on my planned builds.

Bit of background. I'm a dab hand solderer and do a lot of Arduino and Quadcopter projects. I'm also a DJ/Producer (maybe should say ex- as I've not played a gig or dropped a track in a few years now but I guess I'm still in denial)

There is a hell of a lot I don't know about HiFi and amplifiers (which is what draws me toward these projects). I find myself needing a couple of new amps at exactly the same time as I have a new Metcal solder station to play with so here goes.

Project 1:

I have a lovely old JVC amp that I use for my bookshelf speakers but it's just too big for my current flat. So it's away into storage with it. I'm planning to build one of arjen helder's TA2020 amps to fill its place.

Project 2:

This is the one I could do with a little more guidance with. I need a 5.1 decoding amp to go with my nice new LCD TV. I've built a nice little HTPC to go on the back and now I need to replace my oversized outdated 5.1 DVD system.

I've been looking at the chinese 2311 preamp kits on ebay. If I went this route what's a good (diy) power amp to pair it with? The seller I am looking at (zoe_tsang) does a nice TK2050...

Anyway I'm sure I'll have a host of other questions as I start filling in the blanks but I'd appreciate any early guidance/pointers. Hopefully once I get these projects under my belt and increase my understanding I'll be able to return the favor.

Regards and Happy New Year
