Default A big Ciao, from the Country that just rid itself of Berlusconi (hopefully)!!!

Hi everyone!
Happy to be finally joining after having lurked for a while.., I only recently got into hifi and would love to build something for myself sometime soon. Hope it works out and I don't blow up my flat!

Welcome and enjoy the stay. I can only suggest that if you are not comfortable doing certain things (dealing with the possibility of working around fatal voltages and currents), please don't. Find a friend or acquaintance that has experience if starting a project where high voltages are present.

This community here is full of a great bunch of folks that are often very inspiring, and who most usually want to see someone enjoy this hobby and succeed with their projects. Pride in one's own work can do amazing thing and allows one to put their signature on any of the projects they undertake. Dave (P10) as above, is a great loudspeaker resource and is often in the loudspeaker "fullrange" forum. Nelson Pass (of Threshold fame) supports the DIY community by offering circuit boards and design help. Panomaniac is a digital amplifier "guru', having had one of the oldest "T-amp" webpages out there. The list could go on and on. There are so many well versed, knowledgeable and generous people on these forums you will be amazed.

I am not a moderator (both Cal and Dave are), but if you seek help I would recommend the following
  • be as complete as possible with your question
  • tell folks about your system and be honest (don't worry about any possible embarassment, we all started someplace)
  • specify your room size, your musical tastes, and any other particular information including how loud you listen to music at
  • be reasonable with your expectations and project goals

Once this is all sorted most folks can then at least provide you with informed opinions, ideas and advice (most often based on personal experience).

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

ciao
