Default Hello record player maniacs

I just joined this group after finding out about you through eBay. I'm retired, just recently bought an Ortofon Jubilee phonograph cartridge. My record player was in storage for 20+ years, now finally back in service. I build my own have tales to tell and things to share. There is a link on my profile that is on my web site. the pictures tell the tale and the descriptions, while written years ago, still apply.

Write if interested. I am electronnut1 on eBay.

Hi Tim - and Welcome to diyAudio!!!

If you aren't a maniac before you get into TT's you will be by the time you find out what really makes them do what they (hopefully) do.

I took a look at your link and it looks like you were light years ahead of most of us in regards to speakers. That system had to be the end all of end all back in the day and would still be damn good by today's standards. I guess it's sort of like clothing styles - if ya keep the stuff you have long enough sooner or later it will be back in style!!!

Default Hey Record Player Maniacs (part II)

I'd post photos but the file sizes are to small, so I'll just tell ya.
TT that stands for turntable? If so I was only a middle class dude
and so I bent my nose to the grinding stone and came up with what
I thought back then was 'state of the art' Denon DP80 direct drive
Sumiko 'the arm' VPI ultra isolated base, you know usual stuff.,
nuttin' special (1978)

No way could I afford it today. those JBL 4350 style speakers on my
web site have seen a few changes, some good some not so much. And it took
nine months to build them, and now they dominate the tiny cave that
is my listening room. But ya know what, I eq'd 'em and they sound
best right here.

And my racks.. well the power transformer is 2.5Kva at 240V.
As I said maniac but with a purpose. Not the beat, but the lowest
distortion record player on the block, perhaps.

I am willing of course to help others understand what a wonderful
hobby audio is. It teaches things like discipline and knowing how to
differentiate a true better way from all those voices that says THEY are
the best. To find your pay past all that NOISE, It's called, in a word, "LISTEN".

thanks for the welcome.
