Default Hello from Mount Martha

I am new to this forum. I officially retired from all work as of 1st of July! I thought I may have a bit more time for doing things that somehow did not have time for in the past. Time will tell!

I was looking for guitar amps schematics on the net to see if there is anything I should take into consideration in addition to the well known designs I am familiar with. Guess what? I found you thread on the bedroom amp competition for under $100 budget! It has been fun reading it. I have my own thoughts regarding the competition, but I will post it there.

My working background is in information technology, stringed musical instrument building / repair and tube amp repair / restoration (valve amps if you originate from Europe like I do). I also worked in the health industry. I have worked for companies as well as run my own businesses for decades. I have been involved with electronics in some form on and off for 50 years.

In my free time I enjoy playing golf, lawn bowls, fishing and boating. Now that I am retired I may take up playing the guitar again as I have played very little in the last 40 years.

I am primarily here to read and fill in the gaps in my electronics knowledge and hope that on the odd occasions when I contribute others will find it helpful.

Andy

Hi Andy, Welcome to the forum. I live at Safety Beach (most of the time) and have been dabbling in Hi Fi for fifty years building speakers and putting putting systems together. Must catch up sometime as you live the otherside of the marina. There are a few others in the Dromana area who get together for a listen to good sounding music every now and again.

Welcome aboard Andy! It's a fun ride and the price is right. By the way, you guys sure laid a downer on me, made me realize I've been doing this stuff for almost 50 years myself, fixed a neighbors record player when I was seven years old, and I didn't even electrocute anyone or burn anything down! Dang we're gettin' old.
