Hi guys J thanks for the replies, well my project is in two phases , firstly I want to learn about creating excellent audio DIY style, this will include reading a lot of post asking a lot of questions and hopefully a friend showing me how to use a soldering iron and some weird looking electronic gadgets.
Phase two is to build an amp to drive 7 ( bi-wired fronts) speakers with my new ASUS-XONAR-HDAV1-3-DELUXE supplying the sound. Simple really lol .. it’s a long term project I think ??
You see I’m a computer geek and I cobble together gaming computers normally but now people are asking me for high end Home Theatre PC’s. One of the things they ask is why pay £200 for a sound card only to have to buy an AVR to then process it? I couldn’t answer that question, so I thought I would build something that simply amplifies the sound and leave all the video stuff to the on-board HDMI processing, that way All the audio adjustments etc are done by the software which is a lot more flexible than a solid state processor. Also the computer is far easier and cheaper to upgrade.. one case can last a lot of years.. and the massive bonus is that the wife never knows you’ve replaced its guts with some expensive gear lol .. well it works for me J
