Hi Kello, and welcome to diyAudio

That Dac looks good, is it your own design or a kit product?

???middle grade, huh???

That dac looks like kung fu to me, with a side order of serious mojo.

You’re going to fit right in around here.

I am about in the mood to try my hand at a dac and so await tales of your quest for perfection. And pictures too.

Good Luck and Happy Trails

Welcome kello. You seem so modest. You are over the average DIY'er, I gather.

If you have a schematics I would be interested to take a peek and also more pictures. If the schematics is too large for the DIYAudio, please email it to me.

Please remove the "_remove_this"

BTW: I'm totally spam free since my address change. Wonderful!

From now on I'll try to fake my address where I can. So far it works.

Hello Kello,

Welcome to the forum ! Your DAC looks good, I am curious how it sounds. Are you in audio for profession ?

Keep up the good work,

Jean-Paul

Hi! jean-paul

You icon look is style,so cool !!! :P

The DAC made for HiFi PCaudio with my friend in 2000(my friend application for AKG501 headphone).is midle grade design I think not profect
( I have more DAC IC more choose with my store:e.g AD1862K,AD1853,TDA1541A,PCM1702K,PCM63K.....)

thinking for contronl or balance the audio performance and excavate all of the AD1864NK ,so do it as picture show.

I find out some test record:
TEST EQUIPMENT using:
HP8903E aduio analyzer
PHILIPS CD10 System transport (low jitter coax mode)
SONY TYPE3 audio test disc

S/N A-Weight: L=109.0dB / R=107.4dB
THD+N: L=0.034% / R=0.014% @1KHz 0dB
L=0.009% /R=0.010% @1KHz -20dB
L=1.09% /R=0.82% @1K -60dB
0.04% @200Hz 0dB
0.04% @10KHz 0dB
0.07% @18KHz 0dB
FREQUENCE RESPONSE:
L = -0.5dB / R = -0.5dB@20-16KHz
L = -1.5dB / R = -1.8dB@18K-20KHz < Modified>
Buffer section THD: < 0.002%
mark: DAC test not LSB adjustment and test with EL2244 OP AMP IC(not like picture show as ADCOM6AA OP).in test show L channel IC have bit problem. FIR have problem the THD is high.
and other I modifed the FIL in high frequence on 16-20K to -2dB,control the sound response.the sound I think no perfect.

the sound type of this DAC is shape and wide,energy,style like Krell or Wadia, Clear than PCM63K, but Voice the PCM63K is good than.

I have a mini simply adapter board using two PCM63K fast exchange the AD1864NK,take the time I shot picture show you. the sound style different AD1864NK, I think the AD1864NK for symphonic or Rock is very good and PCM63 for voice is good than.
