Default Howdy from Austin

Hey everyone,

I've been lurking a while to get the lay of the land so to speak but I figured it was time to jump in...

I'm a California Ex-Pat that recently moved to Austin.

I've been a closet audiophile forever. And I've been into just about everything DIY...

I worked my way through high-school designing/building/installing high end car-audio.
I worked my way through college assembling printed circuit boards.
My dad is a Ham Radio nut and builder of many DIY electronics kits.

So DIY Audio is just a natural progression for me.

I look forward to learning a bunch but please ignore the stupid questions.

-Phil

Me, too. It's a great place for music, a wonderful live scene. When we went grocery shopping on Sunday, there was a brass ensemble playing outside.

Have you experienced summer here yet? Not pretty.

Welcome to the forum.

From what SY has said elsewhere, Austin isn't a good place to go for summer vacation

Thanks Guys!

No, the summer here isn't too much fun...

I grew up in the desert though so I guess everything is relative.

It can get quite hot and humid but I still find myself outside more than inside... It's a good excuse to drink really cold beer.

It's YOU Californians that are contributing to the wussification of Texas. I knew I should have voted for Kinky Friedman four years ago.

Hey, I was ready to vote for Kinky until he pulled out of the election. The wuss.
