Default Greetings from a watcher.

Hi everyone.

I have been watching this forum for a while - it's now time to participate instead of being passive.

From my early teens (early 1970s) the audio bug bit and is still biting strong. The hobby became a lifelong career that has been reasonably varied. Most of the time I have been involved with mixing console design, however since going self-employed in '93, there has been a lot more variation - studio design & installation, console refurbishment & customisation, numerous PCB & electromechanical design commissions..... and so on......

One major involvement that may be of use and interest here is that I have been involved with Douglas Self's power amplifier and pre-amp projects for some time. All of the PCB designs that have been published since 1994 when Douglas wrote the "Distortion In Power Amplifiers" series in Electronics & Wireless World have been done by me (Class B, Class G, Trimodal, Load Invariant, Precision Pre-amp, RIAA, etc). We continue to work together on improvements, new products and developments under the name "The Signal Transfer Company".

There are no specific personal DIY projects as all audio projects are geared towards the business interests.

Cheers,

Gareth.

Hello Gareth - and Welcome to diyAudio!!!

It's always nice to have another Brit about this place - esp with the background you bring to our little band of merry diy'ers!

Hi Gareth.

I'm originally from West Yorkshire, Huddersfield area though now in exile on the Wirral for my sins. You can't get proper peas in the chippies here. Normally the first job when visiting my folks is to go for a chippie fix. The second is generally a curry fix the day after!

Hope you enjoy your time here, there are some real good folks about the place.

John
