Hey all, I'm a little new to the diy Audio thing. I got hooked while building up half of a CMoy and making the little LED come on without burning up, and taking a Dremel to an opamp on my sound card (sucky X-Fi XtremeAudio)(making it explode!) and getting the new one on there perfectly (so proud of myself!). I'm in the military and I'm going to be starting school to be an electrical engineer, and eventually get into ICs, and this puts me into a good position to get engineering samples of opamps, even special military-grade ones.
Which makes me wonder, do these sound different? I just got some in from TI today...lemmie grab my magnifying glass I accidentally stole from my Grampa-in-law... 2142M (TI symbol) 98T CVJK Now, I know the white stripe on the left side means it is tested to be within MIL-SPEC standards. On the TI site, it is known as a TLE214MD. Does anyone have any experience with TLE214s in general? Or military grade opamps? My other n00b question: I don't want to spend twelve bucks for a Black Gate XXX awesome-bad-*** grade red capacitor. Where's the best place for package deals on some nice Panasonic or whatever audio-grade caps that aren't ridiculously expensive. I love my sound, but I'm not paying that much for something like that, especially when I do the full out mod on my beloved MX300 I've got back home. Speaking of sound cards, changing in the DSP on an older PCI sound card? Any reccomendations on which ones are actually doable (old old not 112 pin surface mount **)? Also, good DSPs fit for the tasks. Yea yea, I know, broad question with a million answers. Just looking for a place to start. Wew, glad I got that out of my system. |

Hi and welcome to the forums. Got it out of your system? Not quite my friend. You'll want to post your questions in a forum other than Introductions as not everyone looks in here.
Cheers. |

Alright then, I'll just do a bit of copy-paste action and some editing of above post and take my business where it is most appropriate. Thank you and well met.
