Hello from the Maine coast! After lurking for a bit in the Chip Amp Forum,I decided to become a member, and hopefully contribute something of value to the community. My current system is a re-wired Scott LC-21 kit pre-amp, and a Dynaco 70 that I re-tubed. My speakers are English Tangent RS-8's with tweaked crossover's by Lee Landesberg. My interests now tend toward the minimal, and a ChipAmp, and horns with Fostex drivers is in my future near-term. I hope you all will be tolerant of my noobish questions, and I can't wait to get started.
Thank You All! |

Welcome, glad you joined.
You probably already know that Dave (Planet10) is the resident expert on Fostex horns, I'm sure he'll have some helpful comments for you. Look forward to hearing your progress! |

planet10 is also pretty knowledgable on Tangent speakers. We were probably the largest North American dealer in the late 70s, by buddy has a set of RS6 (and i've owned, TM3, RS2, RS4 & RS8). John Greenbank was a substanial influence in my early days as a speaker designer, and a lot of what you see in my box designs came from the tangents. Can you say more about the XO tweaks? (one of our local supporters has at least 1 pair in his shop) dave

I bought them in the late 70's?, and I recall Lee changed the inductors, and upgraded the caps and I was stunned at how they opened up, and brought the soundstage forward. It was amazing!
I understand Tangent came back briefly in the 80's and were affiliated with KEF, or used KEF components, but it was not the same. I almost croaked when he told me they were $1800 + $200 for the crossover mods, but I was young and foolish and had to have them. Now That I'm old and foolish, I'm glad I did, and I'm still enjoying them thirty years later. I got a feeling I'm really gonna like it here..... |

Hi, I am looking for the Tangent RS6 cabinet dimensions (how are internally divided, port size etc). I own all parts and I intend to build new cabinets. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks,adam2a3 |
