I missed this part of the forum when I had posted my original question! Hello everybody, I am finishing up a car audio project and being that I hopefully will be getting myself a big screen TV finally I want to get decent sound!
My end goals are quite lofty, but being completely new to this realm I am going to bite off small chunks and learn as I go. I thought knowing a decent amount in the car audio world it would all just transfer right over. Boy was I wrong!! Some (well most) of the threads here make me feel like I am reading another language! Well to my end goals... What I want to eventually end up with after MUCH learning is a complete 7.1 system with very rich and deep sound (read strong in the low frequency range) using 3-3.5 way towers and quality subwoofers. After reading threads in other forums about car PCs and most of the how to for PC XO, I am determined to use a PC or multiple PCs for my processors. I am also pondering using a front end via a palm to control the whole entertainment system. But this is all WAY down the line for me... Right now I need to start small and cheap. I am thinking of building a pair of full range towers to start me out even though those Zaph Audio ZDT3.5 are calling out to me! But I feel that I need to master a single driver before I jump into the world of crossovers. I am thinking of making a Frugal horn design first unless there is a better choice out there that gives better sound. Size is not really a problem for me at the moment (one of the perks of being single). |

Thanks! So where is the best place to start ALMOST from scratch? I have been looking around here and the more I look the more confused I get!
