Hello,
I have a Beacon Radio hifi OT, Specs are... hifi, 10w, prim 3k, sec 1 to 16K,
Freq 20hz to 20Khz. Im guessing one of the secondary impedances might
reflect a suitable impedance for a 6V6. Im getting some parts together for
a 5watt SE guitar amp. With an 8 ohm speaker the 6V6 likes to see around 5K,
it it worth tinkering with, or is this a rediculous idea.
Thanks Ant.

Basically an output transformer is a lump of soft iron with copper wire around it. The quality will vary as will the performance. Some (Marshall) amplifiers have minimal iron to decrease the performance at lower frequencies whilst (Fender) use more iron and get better bass response. It is a matter of taste. HI FI on the other hand uses a balance to get the best from both worlds and will work nicely as a guitar amplifier because the bass can be rolled off by reducing the value of coupling capacitors or left as is for a nice warm sound.
