decided to build a tube amp for my nephew. step one was to fabricate the front panel. this is all made in my basement workshop. time elapsed from start to complete is 2.5 hours. it is made from 2" x 1/8" 6061 T651 Aluminum Bar stock. total cost for materials is about $2.

This will be a 5 week project as that's when the transformers are set to arrive.

I filled the letters with black crayon. It's an old trick I learned many years ago. Works great and crayola makes any color you could want.

I think the question was referring to how you created the letters in the metal, not how you filled them in?

I don't have any video of it cutting aluminum. It goes pretty slow, but who's in a hurry anyway. I'll shoot some video and post it when i cut the top. That'll be next week, hopefully.

Three stages (6av6), a tone stack, and a se 6aq5 power stage. Similar to an ax84 hi overdrive.

I like to sign my work. The cnc helps with that. Also makes a nice bottom.
