Default Crate Amp Problem Distortion Vs. Clean

My amplifier sporadically will not switch to the distortion mode even though the indicator light implies that it is.

Also, it sometimes pops out of the distortion mode into the clean.

What could be causing this?

Thanks for your help.

The amp may use relays for switching between the circuits, if so then it might be a disconnected pin at the relay.

JFET switches are used not relays.
