Im going to record a song for radio in 50īs old style (78īrecords) next week.
I would like to have suggestions about gear and recording/mixing techniques!? I have a SSL-desk with taperecorders and some tube and ribbon mics. A few tube compressors as well. what do you think of these: http://www.coutant.org/635a/index.html bye for now.. /Henrik

Don't spend too much time on the retro gear. These were not Hi Fi recordings. I would record the material in it's best form, and MIX it to sound like an old record.

we did the session this week and it came out quite nice. we recorded alot of the instruments through two LA2a:s and recorded it very load on tape to get some distorition.
Then we were up to mix all we had to do were take away some mud and bass from the tracks and build some echo- chambers. the result was kind of retro.. /h
