Default Searching for Guitar tube distorsor

I have to build a Guitar tube distorsor and I have found several schematics on it.

I have found the "Real Mc tube II" http://www.dogstar.dantimax.dk/tubestuf/mctube.htm and Dumble distorson on Dumble amp http://www.schematicheaven.com/index_FLASH.htm.

I have to make the tipical Blues/Jazz sound like "Robben Ford" .

Do you have some suggestions about it ?
Do you have made some of these distorsors ?

hi , i m playin bass ,but i built reall mc tube II and some distortion effects for my guitarist friends .
i donno what r u exactly lookin for ,
the real mc tube II is a preamp , and it has very good quality for bass or guitar , i like it , but if u lookin for a distortion check out the www.tonepad.com for ibanez tube screamer , i built it once for a guitarist friend of mine , he used it w a fender tube amp , he s playin blues and he s very very very satisfied w its sound ,
check the site ,it contains some very useful circuits and u can find reviews from persons that built those effects .
hope it helps

If you`re lookin` for a typical blues/jazz glassy distortion, luckily you built a tube distorion, but it should have bass cut down on the input and more treble will be very useful. Try to build this:
IMO, this is the best choice for that typical glassy sound you`re (i hope) looking for.
- High touch sensibility
- lots of treble and bass cut off a little straght from guitar will do just fine (built in guitar buffer or a booster with lo coupling caps values)
- medium or lower gain of the amp
- if you can, try to slightly overdrive your output stage (only if you have tube power amp !), that`s what most pros do to get that sweet blue sound, I got very good expiriences with these things combined...
btw, brands like mesa boogie (especialy Blue Angel) is perfect for creamy sound character, try even a gibson older models, prefect for articulate clean and "muddy-clean" jazz sound
cheers

The schematic linked above is a amplifier so I don't now what that has to do with the question about a distortion-effect....?

First of all, what type of amp will this effect be played with, tube/solid??

That schematic was just for illustration, to demonstrate, how are these amplifiers working to get that creamy distortion. But you realy should at least mension, what type of overdrive you`re lookin` for, so we will know, how to advise you...

I'm not sure why you need a tube, but I recommend you stay away from high voltage
Try this one.
