Jensen Neo For Guitar Question.

I just ordered a few of these for a guitar amp, I was looking at the specs sheet and trying to compare to other brands but, I really have little idea on what to look for.

I have "Heard" they are really great sounding units, But thats more or less subjective opinions, But as far as the actual specs, What are the key things to look for? I have not bought a guitar speaker since the early 80's lol
And even then it was A combo amp with the speakers included, Celestion G12K-85's.

They look nice.

The problem with guitar speakers is that it's all down to "tone", not accurate response. All you can really use specs for is to make sure the impedance and power handling are correct for your amp/head. The rest is purely down to taste.

I'll just throw in the following :

certain guitar driver specs indicate best used open
baffle not boxed, these can be used boxed or baffle,
though I'd say they should be used boxed.

What struck me from your other thread is how light these things are. Boy... the efficency is sure up there though. I take it these puppies are pretty loud?

I guess I'm wondering if the lighter speaker doesn't allow more reactive (opposite) movement in the baffle... thus cancelling some of the bass.

IMO am not finding less bass, But I have found a much tighter bass? If that's how to describe it. Long extended bass notes hold together better than my old speakers. The instant presence or bite can be vicious with these puppies

Semi open back cab, 75% closed

My old speakers ( early 80's celestion G12K-85's) were fairly loose. The bass notes were flabby. On my brothers Hartke 4 X 12 cab with G12?? Celestions it also still seemed flabby but in a kind of pushed to hard kinda way.

These are very loud speakers , and they do not seem to fart of even at very high volumes. Great articulation even in the bass. I honestly think they may be the best Jensen speaker I have ever heard.

I have not played a unit that could grasp the true essence of a Gretsch Chet Atkins the way these do.
Yet you throw the old strat on there and it screams. Needless to say a good set of humbuckers is shear terror.

I am building a new cab for these so I will have it matching the head better. The heat here is slowing me down a lot. A Heat index of 110 is not a good combination with power tools lol.

Then I'll get some good clips started.

Here we go, This is a clip my brother made this morning using my KT77 amp, Jensen Neo speakers, Close mic'd on both guitar parts.

He used a midi backing track of Rushes Limelite added both guitar parts and we clipped out the lead section to post.

Just a rough clip, I will post a much better original composition clip soon.
