I have a professional sound studio, and I want to expand my collection of effect with some diy project. I'm primarily looking for compressors and di-boxes, but other fun and weird stuff is also interesting. The inspiration is like some of universal audio's stuff, but it seems kind of complex, and I'm not a tech genius. http://www.uaudio.com/products/analog/index.html
LA-610 and 1176LN is our goal in soundquality, not complexity. We're going to use for vocal, but a universal thing would be great. Any suggestions would be awesome? Thanks Genlyd studio |

Hi, Peanut. Here's a page of links that should keep you busy for a while.
Here's a link to a book called Electronic Projects for Musicians. I built a few of them many years ago. The circuits weren't too difficult and each one has a PCB layout. I still have my copy of the book with a US$6.95 cover price. |

Hi:
There are quite a few good sites dedicated to DIY professional equipment. On the Gyraf's site http://www.gyraf.dk/ you can check out info on diy Urei 1176. The forum at http://www.prodigy-pro.com/forum/ is a nice place with kits, PCBs and some decent people willing to help out and answer questions about almost anything related to professional gear. Finally, on my site there is some essential info on my diy double 1176 project. Regards, Milan |

Hi:
The compressor uses the FET BF245 in the variable resistance mode. I don't have any audio clips to demonstrate the sound and quality of the unit but I think no clips would do it justice, anyways. However, if you take some time to browse internet resources on the subject, I think you'll find that most people tend to agree that a diy 1176 may often sound as good as the original thing. Regards, Milan |
