Anyone ever built a synth?

I quite fancy having a go at building a synth, obviosley somthing relatively simple, like a moog rogue (MIDI'd).

Has anyone any experiences good or bad with synth DIY and any recommendations for a starting project?

It was only a kit, but I built a Powertran Transcendent 2000 years ago, my little brother bought the kit but couldn't build it.

In fact, I built it while I was off work recovering from glandular fever - took a couple of days, but I was VERY weak at the time.

It is a lot easier than you think to build a nice single oscillator synth. A freek of a friend built a little synth, of course there was no midi implementation.
