Hi Guys

Yes, just bypass the cathode follower. The preceding stage will drive the EQ. TUT6 explains in detail why the CF is there and why it is such a tone killer in the places it is used. The only good place to use one is to drive a line out, or to buffer a pentode plate for maximum gain from the pentode.

Have fun

So the 5F6-A Bassman has a cathode follower driving the tone stack and it is a tone killer? The amp considered by many to be the best guitar amp of all time has a tone killer in it? Am I interpreting your statement correctly that this place is not where you should use a CF? Isn't the purpose to more closely match the input impedance of the tone stack since they used a lower value slope resistor,56K and some even a 33K. Isn't the CF an impedance buffer to help out with this? I'm a little confused here. It seems that most plate driven stacks have a 100K or even higher slope resistor and matches a conventional gain stage's output impedance better?
