Got some sawdust in my eye, not working on the amp for now...
But since my output tubes were unmatched, someone (can't find the post) recommended instead of 6 6L6 i should put in 6 6550 and re-bias. Will the PI and driver handle that? Will it sound even more like an SVT? These transformers are enormous; so why is the SVT rated so much more? (180 for the super-twin, 300 for the SVT) |

6 6550 is like overkill from hell rofl you will get some massive headroom lol I say they would handle it knowing those trannys are more than likely very overspeced and monsters etc lol try it and see lol

I would take 6l6 tone any day over 6550s I like em clean but I just don't like how 6550s break up, much prefer the KT88 equivalent

not sure if the bias will let you get up high enough for 6550s and/they draw substantially more current so I hope that power tranny is a beast lol

Overkill? Isn't that eactly what an SVT has? I've got to admit my affetion for the 6L6 too. But for bass, power is power.
