high distortion pedal
Im looking to make a extremely high gain pedal that retains the low end such as nu-metal music. what do you think would be the best op amp to use? maybe more than one? and what are the best components for that type of sound? ge si?*----+--
|
The sound you are going for will have very little to do with the opamp used and everything to do with the curcuit used ......
I personally like to use a multi-stage tube preamp with a multi-band active EQ .... I have never been able to get that nice low end crunch with high end definition useing an opamp preamp and a passive tone controll though I do use a TS9 type curcuit to overdrive my tube peramp ...... |
trying to stay in a solid state circuit. What would be the best components for a non tube pedal.??
|
Like I said it isn"t the components that are going to give you the sound you want , it is the Curcuit , Once you come up with the curcuit then you can think about what opamp , diodes ect would sound best but till then you are putting a cart before the horse ......
Try looking here for curcuits : General Guitar Gadgets DIYstompboxes.com - Index Cheers |
i have a schematic of a circuit i have designed there. STAGE 1 please help with any mods possible??
|
Can you post a link to the schematic ??

In the past I've had good success with TL072 (and LF353's, but they're noisier), JFET op-amp. I made several single stage and multi-stage pedals that had plenty of gain for metal.

could you show me the schematics to some of your multi stage pedals?
