Hi folks. I know some of the "history" behind this but some people say that the real deal with the logo SED + C is today's "real deal to get" while other say that the tubes with Svetlana + C is the "best". I don't have a clue as I'm not really a tube'ie guy =P Btw, I'm talking about the 6L6 tubes.
I know the taste is different but which one should I go for ? I need a quad set for my guitar amp. Thanks in advance! |

It all depends on application. You probably mean guitar amps, right, where tubes work on the edge of meltdown?

Hi and thanks for your reply. That's correct I'm talking about guitar amp head used for brutal metal. Still I want a clean tone on the power amp.

One of these brands is marketed by New Sensor, the other is the "Winged C" brand, right? Or I could be completely wrong.

This is the strange part and why I ask =) There are both SED and Svetlanda that are winged C... Something happen when they sold the factory with the Svetlana but I never remember if the "new" Svetlana or "new" SED was the one that keep going strong in quality compared to the other. Here is a link to the US version of SED eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
and here is the same one but sold in Germany 4 x 6L6GC SED Svetlana Röhren (Quad) =C= new SV 6L6 GC | eBay and it is stated Sovtek on those from Germany as you can see but still with a C and both sold as winged C =) Nuts =) |

Hi. Yeah I think you are right but many rumors are around on the net.... I read this now Winged C Home Page and it confuses me.
Are they branded different and/or made in different factories or do they have different quality/sound too ? Some say the new SED should be identical with the old Svetlana but I cannot get it confirmed... It's a mess being a nerd like me in this case =P |

I think it is all about one factory in St. Petersburg that used to be a factory in Leningrad that before that was called Petrograd.
