i dont think its relevant to say that Jim Marshall spoke those words in 2003, before Blackstaramps began.................
...........the fact is that those words are on the web NOW for all to see, and Jim Marshall surely knows that. I dont know where you guys have worked, but at my places of work, if i went into the gaffers office and told him i was going to set up a rival company, and go after his market share, i doubt i would make it out of the office alive. |

The words may be on the internet for all to see NOW, but so is the Gettysburg address. It doesn;t change the fact that said words were spoken BEFORE any changes in personnel occurred.
MArshall already has the Park brand if they want an alternative. The Park line was created to enable the Marshall company to sell more amps in a market without violating franchise agreements with Marshall dealers. Park models were essentially rebranded Marshall amps. One of Marshalls chief designers was Ken Bran. Marshall made amps under the Narb brand for a time - Narb being Bran spelled backwards. people have been leaving companies and starting their own since the beginning of time. One doesn;t go to the boss and say "I am going to start a competing company." One goes to the boss and says, "Thank you for the time I have spent here, but I am going to leave and explore other opportunities." Then a year later, when your new company makes its debut, the old boss may not like you, but I doubt he will chase you down and kill you. |

April fools prank post?
Amp designers leave and go to other companies or start their own all the time. Marshall recently dissolved its decades-long relationship with Korg (formerly Unicord) as their US and Far East distributor. Korg now distributes Blackstar. If you are wondering where the start up money came from that'd probably be a better place to look. And if this allegedly great designer had anything to do with the TSLs then to hell with him. |

Even less point discussing it now, as it's just been announced that Jim Marshall has died - it's a sad day for rock

Very sad news. I hope he felt he'd had a good innings.
I only met him once, very briefly at a guitar show, maybe 7 or so years ago, where he was signing posters and I was getting one for my son. A bit later on I'd gone outside for a smoke, and who should be there but Jim Marshall, on his mobile - "oh yes, I've had some soup and some bread". I sidled off to leave him to his conversation. RIP Jim, I don't believe in heaven myself, but if I'm wrong you'll have plenty of old customers to have a chinwag with. |

Well, Jim Marshall was an excellen pioneer of industry and superb contributor to the art of music.
I am now finding that i cannot get onto the Marshall Amplification website. I get a link to post condolences to Jim Marshall, i go to that and it won't let me post my respects, and doesnt provide a pathway to the Marshall Amplifiaction website. How do you get on to the Marshall Amplification website now? |

Just consider the company closed for a time in mourning. They will be back soon enough.
