guitar amp
hey again

for a friend who doesn't has internet, i'm looking for a guitar amp with tubes, has to be a good thing, not to hard to build and parts not that hard to find

if possible with building plans and schematics

thx guys

do you know Google .
Search for what you want.
Youīll be shocked how many schematics youīll find.
Anything from simple up to Mesa Boogie clones (which are not that complicated either talking about tube designs).

AX84 is a good start.

yes i already found the AX48 so i's really something good to build?

joensd 15th September 2003 06:15 PM

Huh, never built anything with tubes so I canīt comment if itīs good to build.
It also depends what itīs for.
A little amp for home playing or a big rehearsal/stage amplifier?

For to be sure that itīll sound good:
Go to Duncanīs amp pages look for the schematic of a Soldano SLO-100 and build it.;)

i guess he'll only use it at home so ill recomend him the AX84

and just for a laugh i'll take a look at that soldano thingy

thx anyway

Don't laugh too hard...the Soldano is a very good guitar amp.

belg 15th September 2003 08:03 PM

well i don't know *beep* about it

what are it's specs?

maybe i can get that guy to build it;)

fdegrove 15th September 2003 08:10 PM

what are it's specs?
No clue whatsoever...guitar guys are after tone, bite, distortion of all sorts, whatever gives them what they like.

maybe i can get that guy to build it
I don't think that woud be easy, as I understand it the Soldano recipe involves handpicking passives and such....geez, doesn't this sound like high-end stuff??

Either way this is a very respected guitar amp manufacturer with a rep close to the VOX AC30 magic I've been told by people in the know.

So don't torture your friend too much.:devily:

Soldano guitar amplifiers are some of the best you can buy for your money. Not praticularly cheap but what would you expect.
Find them in any good recording studio doing rock music along with some Marshalls, Fenders and Mesa Boogies.

Unfortunately also the Atomic 16 from Soldano looks quite complex to build.
That is one great amplifier as well but not so much output power to drive a 4*12" (which you donīt need anyway).

Iīm gonna see if I find some more nice and easy schematics for you.

PS: Playing the guitar is even a more expensive hobby than audio is IMO. When I was still playing in a band I was hanging out in shops playing amps I couldnīt afford.
Ever stood in front of a Soldano amp stroke the strings and saw the tubes glow heavily ? Hmmmm.......
