If anyone needs a 1913 Votteler-Hetche Organ let me know, St. Procop on the near West Side of Cleveland is closing on August 31 and they are racing to raise funds to get the instrument a berth somewhere.
Yesterday we heard the Ernest M. Skinner 1926 1931 Opus 603 in Toledo's Museum of Art -- the thing is housed in 2 compartments in the 1,700 seat Peristyle Auditorium. Unbelievable instrument. Later that evening heard Todd Wilson play the Skinner Opus 820 at OL Holy Rosary Cathedral in Toledo. An incredible number of wonderful historic organs, and the weather is perfect...I think that a lot of the performances are being recorded for broadcast on Minnesota Public Radio's "Pipe Dreams" as Mr. Barone is at all the performances. |
