Hello,
National say in their datasheet that this chip should be good not only for HiFi but also Studio Monitors or even guitar amps: Did anybody project already a guitar or bass amp based on the LME49810 or one of his cousins? Merci, Michael |

As most poeple know any Power amp could be suitable as a Guitar amp cuz it isn"t the output stage that gives a guitar amp it"s sound but it"s preamp and speaker ......
So yes i"m sure you can use the LME49810 at the output of a guitar amp , you can also use pretty much any chip .... |

In designing a guitar amp, I'd be more concerned with a chip's ability to protect itself than it having any particular "sound." Without me looking up your IC, I'd look at output short circuit protection, overheat protection, protection from excessive input peaks, etc.

I believe thats one of the nice features of the 49810. It includes thermal protection and a Baker clamp on die.
Should make a nice "clean" guitar amp. |

Right, Artie: This triggered my question, thanks a lot for all your replies, maybe I will go for something like a 'Jazz Chorus' with 2 LME49810 and a bunch of MJL4281/4302....
