Hi all, looking for a bass guitar pre amp to use with my interface and sonar power studio. The only way I can get enough gain is to use my bad monkey overdrive pedal, not ideal. Would like a valve pre but budget has to be sensible.

you can make a simple op amp based booster and run it off a 9v battery. i've built lots of them over the years usually with a variable gain of 1-10. the second op amp (in a dual) serves as an active voltage splitter for a "virtual" ground. i'll post a schematic when i find it on my terribly cluttered hard drive.
