Hi Folks...just joined this fab forum and a question comes to mind which I'm hoping someone can help with.
I've owned several solid state bass guitar amps and they've all emitted a loud 'crack' from the speaker when you switch on or off. Pretty embarrassing when you're on stage! I've been told it's because there's usually an electrolytic capacitor in series with the speaker and the sound is the cap. charging up. Anyone know if there's a way to stop this. Cheers, Robin. |

Well you could put a switch on the speaker output to disconnect the speaker before you turn off the amp...You could Label the switch "Standby" or "Mute" ..It would basicly let you turn your speaker off before you turn your amp on and off....
That is probably the easiest way to get rid of turn on thump, at least without knowing the exact cause of the Thump... Cheers |
