Default From amp w/ "bare wire" output to headphones...

So I have the signal coming from my computer, to an Amp (PFA300). The output on the amp is for bare speaker wire (would normally power a speaker either in a car or home stereo system). I would like to find some adapter that would convert it to a 1/4 jack for my headphones. I have seen this setup before, but I dont know what to look for... any ideas?

You can't easily. Those amps use a tripath chip, with bridged outputs, so you cannot tie the - terminals together. Doesn't work thus for headphones with common ground.

Don't even try, you will most likely damage the amp.

You can pick up a headphone amp pretty cheap. Your computer probably has a headphone output anyway? Unless you have fitted another soundcard.

Most of the headphone amps I have seen are USB and wont use my soundcard (Asus Xonar). I want something that will go from my computer soundcard -> (amp) -> headphones... not something to replace the soundcard itself.

I found this in less than 30 seconds, they have a US site and you can probably buy from Amazon.

Looking for something a little more... desktop friendly (not portable)... with a volume/bass/treble control knobs maybe... something with power NOT from my USB port...

I appreciate you doing some bit of research, even if your reply was a bit snarky.

Which Xonar do you have ? Some have pretty decent headphones out.

Otherwise, in order to help you, we'll need to know: the headphones you use and your budget.
