Default Szekeres VE protection diodes?

Hello,

I have made a small board to try out Richard Murdeys Szekeres VE design (RJM Audio - Szekeres VE Headphone Buffer) It seems to work fine, but the article mentions using gate protection diodes for the IRF510 FETs. What type of diodes should be used here and what is the correct way of connecting these?

EDIT: I can see protection diodes in the original Szekeres article on headwize, but it is a single-supply design so I am not sure if this will be the same?

/U.

It will work just fine without the gate protection diodes, no need to worry.

I do not want to sound too critical, but such a simple design is recipe for absolutely huge amounts of distortion. Why anyone would want to use such a buffer is beyond my understanding. On top of that it even has some sort of virtual ground going on as well, .

Maybe it is just me that is unable to understand these simple buffer circuits but I just do not see the attraction.

Thanks. I know there are much better circuits out there but I still wanted to try it. When I first joined Headwize more than ten years ago the original Szekeres circuit was one of the designs that was heavily discussed, but I never tried it so there is some nostalgia involved here as well
