Default SENNHEISER HD800 Source Impedance

What's the best source impedance for the Sennheiser HD800 headphone? Best means: 1) what's the source impedance indicated by Sennheiser? 2) What's the best experimental source impedance for a correct balanced sound? Bye Francesc0

There is the nominal impedance (300 Ohm), but I need the suggested optimal source impedance ( i.e. the best output impedance for the amp). Thank you Francesco

Are you shure? Some body sais that the sound is to much brilliant in that way. I know that loudspeakers need 0 Ohm source impedance for hi dampening. But it seems that headphones are "tuned" differently. The standard is 120 Ohm, but what for HD800? Francesco

The 120 ohm standard is very old. As far as I know, virtually all new headphones are designed to be driven with low Z outputs.
