Default akg 240M ear pads

So I checked out a pair of AKG 240M's tonight (the older 600ohm ones), and didn't like the comfort. Everyone raves about how comfortable they are but not for me. The problem is 1 or 2 things; either my ears are the wrong shape and don't fit into the round pads (the tops of my ears extend above) and/or the pads are shot.

Anyway, between the comfort and lost bass from a poor fit, I passed (for now at least).

Couple questions;
- Does anyone make an oval pad that will fit my ears (I like the entire ear inside the pad)?
- Would they really improve if I replaced the pads with OEM round ones, but the top of my ear was still protruding out of the pad?

Just to be clear. My ears are (in my opinion) normal sized and the fit problem I describe is that my entire ear does not fit inside the pad. I would assume if the pad sealed better they would sound alot better.

Thanks for any assistance!!

they arn't made to fit inside the pad. You will want to buy some sennhiser style fully open headphones they cover the ears

The closest sound to the K240 in a Sennheiser that I could find, and this is based on my listening experience, is the HD598. I would suspect that the HD558 would be close enough and it's cheaper and doesn't look as weird. But I know for a fact that the HD598 is rich sounding like the AKG's but it isn't quite as over-done in the 125Hz department like the AKG. I prefer the Sennheiser sound and the earpads are super comfortable and entirely cover the ears.

A huge difference, though, is that the Sennheisers are very easy to drive. You won't need an amp... just a buffer.
