This is a newbie project inspired by THE WIRE, The 5002 Project (page 12), PPA v1.1, LPUHP, and KurtW. The goal is to build an amplifier that drives any headphones other than LCD-3 to 120dB. The amplifier should be dual-mono, bridge-parallel, with an ultra clean gain stage and intersil HA-5002 buffers as output stage.

Why HA-5002? Because I have 20.

First lets talk about gain stage, from my own experience slew rate matters. I had 2 headphone amps, the one with lower slew rate op amp sounded dark and slow, the other one sounded more lively. Anyway the candidates are, OPA1632, THS4130, THS4131, LME49990, ADA4898, THS4631, THS3001, LM6171, LM7171, LM6181, AD811, which one is more suitable?

Regarding power supply, THE WIRE, The 5002 Project, LPUHP are good.

Can someone explain how to calculate power to reach 120dB on different phones?

from my testing,
opa1662 + buf634, sounds so sweet-warm, nice kicking-butt Bass, not much detail
opa602bp + buf634, sounds more natural than opa1662,, not too sweet, but nice on microdetails
LT1122dcn +buf634, sounds very nice on microdetails but lack on bass,
the original combination, lme49990 + lme49600, sounds fast, very natural, not warm at all, good on microdetail, not blurr on bass
but i tested all on protoboard
for my taste, i love the original wire but sometimes, when i'm listening hip-hop or slow rock, i like to use opa602bp+buf634
