Hi all,
Not sure if this should be in Digital Source or Headphones but ... I did a quick search and didn't find anything. Anyone know of a half decent sounding mp3 player that will play FLAC and WMAL? Cheers, Jeff |

I picked up a Sansa Clip+ a couple of years ago based on a recommendation from another audiophile. I've been pretty happy with it actually, although I haven't tried to play WMA files (I'll assume that's what you meant).
You can likely still find them although I think Sansa has released newer models since then. Here's more info: SanDisk Sansa - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Good luck, mlloyd1 |

I also got a Sansa clip+ about a year ago, It sounds great and it's very easy to use. I'm very happy with it.
In fact, I got it set up so I can feed it into my main home sys when I wish and MP3s never sounded so good .....to me anyway. From the Sandisk site..... the Sansa Clip info on what it supports........ *Supports MP3, WMA, secure WMA, Audible, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, plus audio books and podcasts* Sandisk now also has the "Sansa clip -Zip" but, I have not heard how good (or bad) it might be. The one you do not want is the Sansa FUZE which is reported not to sound as good as as the other two. http://www.sandisk.com/consumer-products/music-player Last edited by JoeDJ; 4th April 2012 at 05:31 AM. |

Cowon mp3 players. I have the J3 which has been superceded by android based models. It plays just about any file type, even slighty obscure ones like .ape. It is also one of few players that can drive large 32ohm phones properly.

FWIW....
The Sansa clip has no problems driving my (large) Audio -Technica "ATH-AD900" phones which are rated at 35 ohms. |

Great! Thanks for the recommendations so far!
Just to clarify: WMAL = WMA lossless I would like to use it in the car, as a portable and as a music server too. Oh, and having an actual battery (battery dies, put in a new one--no recharge by USB) would be a bonus too. Keep 'em comin'! Cheers, Jeff Last edited by AudioLapDance; 4th April 2012 at 12:35 PM. |

Mp3 players with removeable batteries are rare now, I am not aware of any except low end models without lossless support. However most good ones have at least 20 hours battery life and can be charged with car or mains adaptors.

I have a Cowon A2 which play both audio and video and it has been a great player
Let me also add that I have the previous version of this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16855166050 and I am also very satisfied with the audio. Last edited by aptquark; 4th April 2012 at 04:37 PM. |

I´ve heard the Sansas as stated above are preferred and they get much better if they are Rockboxed
