Just drew up a new schematic for a simple headphone amp with integrated li-ion power. Uses a max1555 to charge the li-ion and a ti boost converter to bring the voltage up to 12v (for -6/0/6v).
Does this design look sane to you? My main question are - Is +/-6v enough for decent performance? Do I need to do anything with the ground from the input (right now I'm just leaving it unconnected)? Any other thoughts/suggestions? I'm trying to keep it as simple and surface-mountable as possible. |

is choosing a less facetious title...

yes your source needs a return path/reference or your input signal will be meaningless. you need to pick a signal star ground and connect it there. so either between c3/c4 or pick a more localized signal ground star point; perhaps between r5/r6. i dont have much design experience, but plenty of building and basic theory says your signal needs a reference
