Thanks Stixx for your answer, does standar gain enough to produce loudness for HE-500?
In my setup, yes... absolutely!

Across the normal 4 caps on there, I added 4 x 100uF 25V Black Gates F series (the cheaper ones as that's what I had spare) to my Wire BAL-BAL and they did their normal thing. Louder and 'bigger' and more transient bass, a bit coarse.
Good thing to do... unfortunately I don't have the space in my build.
My Audiosector DAC is quite plastered with BG though... doing their thing as you say .

One more thing, how much voltage output at least from the source to get enough loudness then (if I use standard gain)?
So its time to wait for the boards

Indeed I do! Much like Stixx, I swap regularly between the AH-D2000 and the HE-500 depending on my mood and what I'm listening to. Also depending on my neck strength with the HE-500

I mostly use the AH-D2000 phones for everyday listening, or when I'm doing layout, watching movies etc...

I use the HE-500 for more critical listening as I find they have a slight advantage in overall detail and a somewhat more refined bottom end. They're terribly uncomfortable compared to the AH-D2000 though, so I rarely use them for anything other than critical listening.

As for drive level, I run the BAL-BAL at unity gain straight off the NTD1, which gives me 2VRMS output at 0dBFS.

I find this level satisfactory for everything I've ever listened to, but with quieter recordings I have found myself running it full out, which is ideally what you want. If you like ear bleeding levels, I might suggest running a gain of 2, but definitely try the default (unity) gain first if you have enough source drive.

Regards,
Owen

Pardon me for such a newbie, so the default build is gain of 2 or it isn't?

Default is unity gain, voltage in = voltage out.

I found jdkjake explanation for gain, is it for SE-SE only? What about BAL-BAL configuration?

Has anyone tried using Twisted Pear Audio Buffalo/Legato IV with the BAL-BAL Wire?

The Legato has a common mode DC bias between the output and ground. I believe it’s about 6 VDC. I do not have electronic engineer background needed to analyze the circuits to know if the Wire can properly accept the balanced output from Legato (either with the ground connected or not connected).

Thoughts?
