I wanna make a amplifier that has warm sounds like a tube amplifier.
So, I think about some amplifier. Searching a headwise web, I find a one amplifer that operated by mosfet. it's Szekeres (Ver.Tomo) it's very simple schecmatic than other headphone amplirers, but not CMOY. I've been known that mosfet amplifirer was very warm and smooth sounds. I wanna know in detail about sound of Szekeres. Is it sounds good? or NG? plz...reply my answer...plz |

(However you must first convince yourself that all tube amplifiers have a ‘warm sound’!) The ‘Szekeres’ is a text-book source follower circuit. In theory it seems well suited for driving headphones. (I have not built that one yet, so can only comment about theory). Note that it has no gain (no actual amplification, because it is an 'impedance converter'), so it may be OK for high efficiency headphones but may not have sufficient volume for low efficiency 600 Ohm headphones. There is an interesting thread here: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/headp...-szekeres.html Also, if you use the ‘search’ facility of this forum you will find other threads discussing the Szekeres. The main distortion components will be second harmonic, but very little at low power (where you are likely to use it). So, if you use quiet power supplies and (relatively) high bias current, the overall sound quality is likely to be determined by your headphones and not the amplifier (…in my humble opinion). : ) |
