Capacitor on Opamp Power Pins in Gwado CMoy
 

In the Gwado CMoy design, there are small capacitors attached to the opamp power pins. What do these capacitors accomplish?

Decouple the op amp from power supply noise.

Are electrolyic or film caps or something else better for this purpose? Is there any benefit or detriment to using bigger capacitance? 0.1uF is what's used in the Gwado schematic.

You're trying to filter high frequency noise, so a small cap is most useful here - I tend to use X7R ceramics of about 0.1uF (+/- 50% depending on what I have around).
