Hi there!
Interesting chip there.
I have downloaded the datasheet, the typical application circuit given maybe used as a guide but definite not for a beginner or faint hearted.. :p
Done some 'google' on it and found a thread on texas intruments here. And at Head-Fi too..

But then again there are other options/choices to make a headphone amp.. any particular reason the need to use this chip?
Have a nice day!

I tried the TPA6120 and I was not impressed by the results .

In fact " for me" the bass and the low medium seem to be back compared to the LME49600 ...

R5 , C1 , C2 , R1 and R9 are completely unnecessary,
the circuit will be better without them.

Why C1,C2 are unnecessary ? have you tried with and without ?

and "local decoupling" is then complete unnecessary too, isn't it?

This thread has been resurrected from 2009 folks. R5 is recommended in the TI data sheet for the TPA6120 to aid with stability by isolating the non inverting input pin from any source capacitance.
