I need to replace the 1/4 inch stereo phone jack on a pair of AKG K701's and I'm not sure about the wiring. There are four wires in the cable; red, white, yellow, and black, and I'm not sure which terminal each goes too. The "schematic" that I found here: http://www.akg.com/mediendatenbank2/psfile/datei/58/k601_k701439d5815555d1.pdf
is unfortunately not very helpful to me. Any suggestions?

I've never had a pair apart, but from the posted link the clue is the label that says 'in-phase'. Also both drivers have white connections which suggests that is ground, i.e. common (even if it changes colour to black at some point).
So, the 1/4 jack has three connections known as Tip, Ring and Sleeve, hence it is often known as a TRS jack. Tip is left, ring is right, and sleeve is ground. So I would wire it as follows...
Tip (left) yellow
Ring (right) red
Sleeve (ground) white and black
That'll work I am sure.
