Default Smallest Class A Preamp/Headphone Amp Design?

Hello, I was wanting to build a pre-amp/headphone amp with the smallest possible footprint yet with excellent SQ. Any suggestions?

Pete Millett's Starving student headphone amp is pretty compact.

Yep I already know about that one but I don't think it is Class A and probably not well suited for preamp duty but looks like a cool cheap project.

I was thinking about the Morgan Jones modified HP amp but don't know if they are simple enough for me to make as a beginner. I have no idea what they sound like either. If someone has a BOM and build diary that would be cool.

I remember seeing something done with a single 955 for each channel. It was just a rough schematic but its on the interwebs somewhere.

It is still a tangle of wires but I am going to develop it into a more presentable product soon.

Some of those projects look intersting but the power supply always seems to be a hassle. It would also be nice to know there are other people who have successfully built a certain project so that questions can be asked to the DIY community.
