long time since I'd checked here, most recently because of my recent HD crash. I've also got a job (and hence no attendance at dave's place this year.)

I'm kinda hating the ** that goes on in business of any sort. Anyways if it can finance my hobby and allow me some $$ to invest in perhaps a small commercial venture, well then..., I still think an audio co-op is the way to go for dave, greg, me, etc. If any have commercial aspirations I think we need to get doing some of this stuff (well planet10-hifi is functioning, and so is greg's site...)

I'm still writing for Affordable$$Audio, and am currently trying to get more tonearms out into the world to "beta testers" Hope to have 15-20 (including any that have the tonearm items from dave's place.

After much consideration and an initial good contact between myself, moray and Bo (of Opus 3 fame) to try to get his turntables and arms made here, I think this is a no-go. Too bad, because I think what is letting this turntable and arm down is a lack of QC. Bo makes everything far as I know (sub-contracts what he can't), but the assembly is pretty shoddy. Just as moray.

I have started another group called "nanook analog" for discussion on turntables and tonearms, design and implementation. Any here are of course most welcome to come aboard or peak in on occasion. Particularly Jesse as I did not have opportunity to see or here his lightweight turntable.

I think I may have moray's friend's turntable figured out enough to realize that Linn must also suck (the table here is an Ariston RD11, by all accounts a good table). An improved bearing, new motor and structurally modified plinth should help. It would have been much easier to make one from scratch I think.
