Avel Lindberg 500VA 18-0-0-18 Transformer for Aleph30

I'm thinking of having Avel make me an Aleph30 transformer. Quoted price is $98 (1-9) and $92.10 (10+). Any interest?

500VA dual 18 secondaries. Dual 115V primaries.

I don't think either of those will work for an Aleph30, which wants 18VAC (25VDC rails). Am I wrong?

I just ordered a 500va 2x18 dual secondary from Plitron for 120.00cdn
+ shipping/taxes. It's is not listed on web site, custom made. Talk to Helen if you want to order one..4-5 weeks lead time

Funny that the price is almost exactly the same. Avel quoted a 6-14 week lead time though. Hmmm.

PE has a torroid #129-095 with dual 16.2V secondaries, 350 VA. This is on the low side, I know. So is the price...$29.68. I wonder what I'd give up with the lower rails

Some questions were raised about the capacity of the PE transformer, 129-095. I asked PE and got this reply:


I have included the specs that I have on this item below,

16.2V-0 @ 10.8A = 175W. 32.4V @ 10.8A = 350W. 55V-0 @ 3.2A = 175W. 110V @ 3.2A = 350W.

From this it appears 350VA to be available @ 32.4VCT
