Default Dac PSU Silk Screen

Subbu & Jean-Paul, I Know I'm a bit slow on the uptake - Or perhaps I have missed something, but the silk screen for the DAC PSU appears to be wrong in that it doesn't match the PSU BOM parts.

For example - BOM shows Mouser part 512-DF01S for the bridge rectifier which is a SMD component - Silk screen shows it as through-hole and to add to the confusion - Manufacturers part is W01G-E4/51 on BOM.

Of course you are going to say, "Well Ken, you've fallen right into our little trap - any idiot can see that's a V2.6 silk screen......". Cue hysterical laughter.

Can you please put me right?

Cheers - Ken

See posts 298,299 and 300 , two pages back and you will find the answer.
Of course you should use thru hole part not SMD.

OK, thanks for that - will the SMD part fit the pads? - I have some DF01S parts in my stock so would prefer to use them.

Hi Ken
I don't think SMD will fit due to bridge rectifier footprint.

Phil

PCBs are in production and will be sent to Subbu shortly (maybe they have already been sent). In good tradition I will get them as the last person in this GB

No an SMD rectifier can not be used. We found through hole rectifiers to be more convenient especially when one wants to use the PCB for higher current draw. If you really want to use SMD you could use the earlier revision of the board which performs equally otherwise. You could ask Subbu if he has PCBs left. Tip : start the email with "dear Mr. Subbu do you maybe have....". Any reference to you liking Indian classic music ( inside info: हिन्दुस्तानी शास्त्रीय संगीत) will help.

OK, many thanks Phil and Jean-Paul - I will order the through-hole part. I guess someday a project will crop up where I can use my DF01S rectifiers...
