No. Actually not.

Both material & labour costs remain essentially the same.
For SMD components, price break is only interesting at 3000 (a reel).
Also no PCB assembly house will be able to handle matched JFETs individually if they are not in a reel.
They are also not interested in handling 100 pieces.

So matching and handling are the key cost drivers.

Running total is 70.
Since this appears to stagnate by now, we'll close in a week's time.

Also I need to correct myself.
About half of the SMD passives are 0603, the others 0805.
The 0603s include a Panasonic PPS cap, which needs a bit of skill.

If the overwhelming majority have a problem with 0603's, we'll discuss with Joachim and reconsider whether to pre-solder those as well.
But that will add to the cost (components and labour).
And we rather not have the work if we can avoid it.

For both ourselves and for Joachim, we only do this to promote DIY.
So we want to give you motivation to solder.

:)

That's the spirit.

The smallest I can still do is 0402, right at the IC pins.
And they are used in my ES9022, WM8804, and PCM5012 modules.
People complained that I do not offer PCBs for those.
If I had had, they would have complained about poor PCB design and impossible to solder ...

So you can never win.

The smallest smd soldering I have done previously is 0805 caps and resistors. I am happy to do the 0603 soldering myself. Learning is why I am here.

Yes my take also
I have the 0402 caps directly on the pins of my 9023 as per Patrick’s recommendation and with a little care and patience it was possible.:D
Building the 9023 DAC was my first go at SMD work and it really was about taking it slowly and having the right equipment.
Pointed nosed tweezers, a good light and a 10x loop for checking the work along with a board repair clamp helped a great deal.
I found that the biggest hassle was losing components (tended to just bounce away) but ordering a few more of each and placing each one in turn into a coffee jar lid before soldering helped prevent headaches.
If I managed with my novice skills then I’m sure everyone is going to be just fine.;)
Just slowly slowly does it
The 9022/3 is a great DAC and I’m looking forward to making it even better.
Thanks
