It must be stable ~170VDC if you come from a 150VAC tap of your transformer.

Oliver,

Is it okay if I have 220VDC or do I have to reduce it first to 170VDV ? Also, may I know the resistor value of your RK and I/V on your Tube-I-Zator.

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe,

you must measure the input voltage with the reg. (~35mA load).
If you have with the load 220VDC input voltage, i think you must use a bigger sink!

The resistor values for a 6N2P/12AX7 is Rk=200R.
The R I/V depends on the DAC Chip you would like to use. If it is the TDA1541A i would recommend 56R with one DAC Chip.

Oliver, thank you much for your help.
I'll just reduce the B1 voltage with resistor as I don't want to change the heat sink size. What is the minimum input voltage for the HV shunt?
I have the Buffalo II DAC. I'll check the older thread, maybe a couple of Buf II owner/posters mentioned what R I/V value they are using.

Thanks,

Joe

Salas recommend a Vin/Vout diff. of minimum 15-20V.

Oliver,

The measured 220V is without the load. I also tried just after the rectifier, it's also 220V.

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe,

your values are absolute normal and correct.
As you see on the following snapshot from the PSU Designer, there are the same values.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

If i add the ~35mA load from the shunt, the voltage drops to the recommended 170VDC input voltage.
