Default recording from vhs to dvd what do i need ?

each time i try to transfer from vhs to dvd.

the vhs/dvd device says copyrighted and machine shuts down.

i don't want to buy a computer program.
i would just like to get a copyguard by-pass. and transfer the stuff to dvd, and then put the vhs tapes away because they are huge and take up space.

Sorry, but we can't allow posts here that discuss breaking copyright protection. I appreciate it may be for "fair use", but the legal implications for us are too great, so I'm closing the thread.
