actually an s-video "repeater". it is for a camera system, where the user wants to have a several hundred foot cable for mobility in an auditorium. the other option is to send s-video wirelessly. is there any way of doing either?

Try X10; they've got wireless video links, and some may have decent bandwidth. Pro video places would have distribution amps, but I suspect you could build your own with some good fast opamps.
